Lions down Pioneers in dual meet competition, 111-78

Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey’s men’s and women’s swimming teams competed on Saturday hosting William Paterson University. TCNJ’s men’s team picked up a 111-78 win to improve 6-3 overall, while WPU drops to 7-4.

TCNJ’s sophomore diver Greg Lloyd (Ringoes, NJ/Hunterdon Central) had another impressive meet as he won both one and three meter competitions on Saturday. He won the first one meter event with his score of 250.10 and the three meter event with a mark of 213.00. Lloyd is this week’s ECAC Division III Diver of the Week after a 4-0 performance the previous week.

TCNJ had a pair of triple winners in the meet, sophomores Mike Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) and Mike Heaney (Voorhees, NJ/Bishop Eustace).

Molloy had an impressive meet as well as he won the 200 freestyle in 1:48.34, the 100 freestyle in 49.23, and the 500 freestyle in 4:55.74. Heaney was the winner of the 100 backstroke in 55.47, while also capturing first in the 1000 freestyle in 10:43.62, and winning the 200 backstroke in 2:17.32.

Freshman Herman Chu (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) won the 200 butterfly in 2:04.74 as well as the 100 butterfly in 55.29.

Junior captain Liam Gallagher (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) won the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.03, while also taking second in the 50 freestyle in 22.66.

Sophomore Donato Santengelo (Toms River, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) won the 200 breaststroke in 2:21.22, while junior Ryan Tighe (Sayerville, NJ/St. Joseph) picked up the gold in the 200 IM in 2:06.81.
