Ewing, NJ…Just one match after falling for the first time this season, the Lions of No. 29 ranked The College of New Jersey’s women’s tennis team recorded another 9-0 win. This time they shutout the Herons of William Smith College on Saturday at TCNJ’s Student Recreation Center to improve to 9-1, while WSC drops to 5-6.

Jackie Shtemberg (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over WSC’s sophomore
Chelsea Rauck (Bexley, OH/Columbus School for Girls) and remains unbeaten in dual singles action after beating. Shtemberg holds a ranking of No. 9 regionally in singles competition thus far and is now 21-3 overall this year and 9-0 in dual meet action. The loss puts Rauck at 15-4 this season in singles play.

Christina Contrafatto (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) teamed at No. 1 doubles for the win as they beat Rauck and junior
Tara Ware (Avon, CT/Avon), 8-2 and are now 19-4 together and 8-1 in dual action. Ware and Rauck are now 7-6 this season with one another. Contrafatto upped her singles record as well with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles over Ware and she is now 8-0 this season.
TCNJ’s lone senior,
Kristen Turturiello (Berkeley Heights, NJ/Governor Livingston) added a win as well with her 6-1, 6-0 win at fourth singles over freshman
Shari Damon (Honeoye, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) and is now 11-3 this year and 60-19 on her career in singles play.
