Three unanswered goals spark TCNJ to win

Elizabethtown, PA… The College of New Jersey's women's soccer team started the 2007 season off of the right foot as the Lions erased an early deficit to post a 3-1 victory over Frostburg State University on Saturday in the Jako Blue Jay Classic hosted by Elizabethtown College.

The Lions, ranked second in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Adidas Division III preseason poll, will finish the two-day tournament on Sunday, September 2 taking on Roger Williams University in a 1 p.m. start.

After the Bobcats grabbed a 1-0 lead 4:02 into the game, TCNJ got its offense going as Coleen Weber (Mullica Hill, NJ/Woodstown) tied the game 2:35 later.

At the 21:49 mark of the half, the Lions took the lead for good as junior Laura Delaney (River Vale, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) laced a shot from 30 yards out that found the back of the net.

The Lions added an insurance goal in the second half as Jamie Kunkel (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) headed in a cross from Briann McDonough (North Arlington, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) making the final 3-1.

In goal for the Lions, sophomore Jessica Clarke (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) made one save to pick up the victory.
