TCNJ falls to top-ranked Ursinus in OT

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Ursinus College senior forward Lindsay Cappa's (Oley, PA/Oley) goal three minutes into the overtime period gave top-ranked Ursinus (4-1) a 5-4 victory over third-ranked The College of New Jersey (3-1) Tuesday night at Eleanor Frost Snell Alumnae Field.

Cappa's sixth goal of the season came off of a rebound following a shot from junior midfielder Jennie Moore (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville).

The Lions were led by junior forward Katie Reuther (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North), who had three goals in the game including a penalty stroke in the first period.

Ursinus got on the board first, as Moore scored at 5:36 on an assist from Cappa from the right side of the circle. TCNJ then tied the score at 1-all on Reuther's penalty stroke at 29:07.

The Bears went back on top at 2-1 at 38:27 as sophomore midfielder Jessica Zatwarnicki (Reading, PA/Reading) scored off of a save from Lions junior goalkeeper Caitlin Gregory (Winslow, NJ/Eastern).

Reuther added her third goal of the season 1:29 later as her shot from the right side of the circle went past Bears senior goalkeeper Jessica Lamina (Doylestown, PA/Doylestown).

Junior back Nikki Thren (Barto, PA/Upper Perkiomen) scored her first goal of the season off of a Moore assist at 45:17 to give Ursinus a 3-2 lead. The Lions came right back, tying the score on Reuther's third goal of the game on a shot from the top of the circle at 52:49. Senior defender Sheri Grondski (Mercerville, NJ/Nottingham) had the assist.

The Lions went up for the first time in the game at 4-3 at 57:57 as freshman forward Leigh Mitchell (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) scored off of a Lamina save. Ursinus forced the overtime period when Moore scored her second goal of the game on a Cappa assist at 67:50.

Gregory finished the night with five saves as she faced 12 shots, while Lamina had four saves on 11 shots.

Ursinus will return to Centennial Conference play on Friday night as the Bears travel to Carlisle to face Dickinson College at 4 p.m. TCNJ will face second-ranked Messiah on Thursday evening in Ewing, N.J.
