Ewing, NJ… For the second straight season The College of New Jersey women's soccer team and Richard Stockton College battled for 110 minutes only to finish in a scoreless tie with the latest deadlock coming Wednesday at Lions' Stadium.
The tie was the first of the season for second-ranked TCNJ as they are now 5-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, while the Ospreys are also 1-0-1 in the conference and 6-1-1 overall.
The shutout was the fifth straight for the Lions as keeper
Jessica Clarke (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) made two saves for her third shutout of the season. As a team, TCNJ has not allowed a goal since the first half of the opening game of the season covering a span of 555:08.
Not to be outdone, the Ospreys posted their second consecutive shutout as junior
Alex Rogers (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) finished with seven saves.
Defense dominated the opening half as the Lions managed six shots on net and the Ospreys finished with three.
The best chance to get on the board in the second half came off of the foot of TCNJ's
Beth Pagano (Trenton, NJ/Notre Dame) as she banged a shot of the far post just under six minutes into the period.
For the game, TCNJ held a 29-7 edge in shots.
The Lions return to the field on Saturday, September 22 at conference opponent Montclair State University, while the Ospreys play a non-conference match at Centenary College.
