DiBruno scores three as Lion women's soccer team cruises

Ewing, NJ… Senior Dana DiBruno (Cherry Hills, NJ/Cherry Hill East) scored three goals in the first 25 minutes of the game igniting The College of New Jersey women's soccer team to a 6-0 win over visiting Gwynedd-Mercy College on Monday.

The win puts the Lions at 7-0-1 on the season, while Gwynedd-Mercy fell to 1-6-2.

DiBruno opened the scoring 2:19 into the contest redirecting a cross from Kristen Cubicciotti (North Haledon, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy). DiBruno then made it 2-0 16:52 into the game before junior Jamie Kunkel (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) made it 3-0 on an assist from Briann McDonough (North Arlington, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy).

TCNJ made 4-0 as DiBruno completed the hat trick drilling a shot just under the cross bar after taking a feed from Coleen Weber (Mullica Hill, NJ/Woodstown). With those three goals, DiBruno moved into sole possession of third place on the program's career scoring list as she now has 112 points on 46 goals and 20 assists.

The Lions added one more goal before the intermission as Toni-Anne Cavallo (Cedar Grove, NJ/West Essex) tallied her first of the season after taking a nice lead pass from Momoko Aoe (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ/Northern Highland). That goal put the hosts in front 5-0.

In the second half, TCNJ added one more goal with 11:10 remaining as sophomore Casey Riley (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Holy Cross) netted her first of the season.

In goal for the Lions, the trio of Jessica Clarke (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley), Amy Hashem (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) and Kristina Kuda (Thorofare, NJ/West Deptford) combined for the team's sixth shutout of the season.

In goal for the Griffins, freshman Kristie Pollack (Kennett Square, PA/Unionville) had a busy game making 17 saves as TCNJ took a season-high 45 shots.

The Lions return to New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, September 26 heading to Rutgers University-Camden, while the Griffins also play that evening at Misericordia University with both of those games beginning at 7 p.m.
