Heydt's goal lifts TCNJ past CNU, 4-3

The College of New Jersey men's soccer team posted a 4-3 win over Christopher Newport University on Friday night in the opening round of the Captain's Classic. With the victory, TCNJ is now 4-0, while CNU drops to 1-2.

TCNJ's senior defender Charlie Heydt (Paramus, NJ/Paramus) provided the game winning goal as the Lions remain perfect on the season. He scored in the 71st minute (70:45) to give the Lions a 4-2 lead before CNU added their third goal of the match in the 73rd minute of the contest. Heydt added and assist as well and finished with three points on the night.

Senior Nima Rahimi (Wharton, NJ/Morris Hills) added two goals for the Lions as TCNJ led 3-1 at the half. Rahimi now has a team best four goals this fall. Senior Craig Langan (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) also added to the Lions' scoring output as he added his third goal of the year.

TCNJ's senior goalie Matt Kasperavius (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) had one save in the win and is now 4-0 this year in net and 27-11-2 in goal as a keeper.

TCNJ will face York College (PA) on Saturday at 5 p.m. on the second day of the Captains' Classic.
