TCNJ falls at #11 Kean, 60-44

Union, NJ… Kean University closed out the game with a 15-0 run as the 11th-ranked Cougars handed The College of New Jersey women's basketball team its first conference loss on Wednesday by the score of 60-44.

TCJN closed to within a point at 45-44 with seven minutes even remaining as sophomore Nicole Diaz (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) knocked down a 3-pointer, but the Cougars were able to able to then keep the Lions off of the scoreboard the rest of the way.

The loss was the first in New Jersey Athletic Conference play as they are now 2-1 in the South Division and 11-4 overall. Kean improved to 3-1 in conference play and are 14-1 overall.

Junior Hillary Klimowicz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) was the lone Lion to score in double figures scoring 10 points and adding 10 rebounds. Senior Sara Best (Voorhees, NJ/High Bridge) added nine points, while junior Alyssa Michella (Washington Twp., NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) posted a career-high 13 rebounds.

TCNJ continues conference play on Saturday hosting Richard Stockton College at 3 p.m. in another NJAC South Division match-up.
