Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey's men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted Rowan University on Wednesday night at TCNJ's Aquatic Center. Both TCNJ teams came out as the victors as the Lion men posted a 176-123 win over Rowan to improve to 5-2 overall, while Rowan falls to 5-3. TCNJ's women tallied a 189-108 win to improve to 2-6 overall, while the Profs drop to 4-4.
Among the highlights for the Lions on the night was the three wins by rookie
Margaret Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) as she won the 1000 freestyle (10:37.96), shattering her own school record she just set this past Saturday at 10:53.58. She won the 100 freestyle in 54.53 and the 500 freestyle in 5:12.82 as well to help the Lions snap a dual meet losing streak that had stood at six meets.
Freshman diver
Amanda Obst (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Regional) won the one and three meter events for the Lions as well with her scores of 182.30 and 173.60, respectively.
Senior
Lauren Pfeifer (Freehold, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) captured the title in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.17, while also helping the Lions win both the 400 freestyle relay (3:42.59) and the 200 medley relay (1:53.95). Teaming with her on the 400 free relay were Molloy, senior
Kristin Udicious (Cherry Hill, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), Pfeifer, and senior
Ava Kiss (North Brunswick, NJ/Stuart Country Day). On the 200 medley relay were senior
Christine Marino (Scotch Plains, NJ/Mt. Saint Mary's Academy), Pfeifer, Kiss and sophomore
Ashley Robb (Blackwood, NJ/Gloucester Catholic).
Rowan's freshman
Katherine Winters (Princeton Junction, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) added two wins for the Profs as she won the 100 backstroke in 1:02.47 and took home first in the 200 backstroke in 2:14.74.
