New York, NY…The College of New Jersey's men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at New York University on Saturday, but had their win streak halted as the Violets posted a pair of wins. NYU's men tallied a 167.5-132.5 win as TCNJ drops to 5-3 overall, while the women's meet was also captured by NYU as they posted a 169-128 win over TCNJ. The Lion women are now 2-7 on the season.
TCNJ's junior diver
Greg Lloyd (Ringoes, NJ/Hunterdon Central) broke both the NYU Aquatic Center mark as well as TCNJ's school records as he won both the one and three meter events with his outstanding performances. He took the one meter event with a score of 326.11 and the three meter event with a score of 360.90. In the one meter event he bested the mark set in 2003 by Andrew Kasney (320.45), while breaking his own one year old record in the three meter which he had posted with a score of 335.55.
In the 100 backstroke, junior
Thomas Nawrot (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) tallied a first as he posted a time of 53.36. Senior
Josh Forsman (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) was a winner for the Lions as he won the 100 butterfly in 52.52. Sophomore
Myles O'Connor (Santa Monica, CA) picked up a first for the Lions in the 200 breaststroke in 2:13.33, while adding a second place showing in the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.25.
The Lions picked up second in the 200 medley relay in 1:36.94 behind the efforts of Nawrot, O'Connor, Forsman and senior
Liam Gallagher (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan).
Junior
Mike Molloy (Toms River, N/Toms River East) added a second in the 1,000 freestyle in 10:11.73, while Gallagher took second in the 200 backstroke in 1:59.66.
Rookie
Tom Medvecky (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) posted three second place finishes in the meet as he took second in the 200 freestyle (1:44.84), the 200 butterfly (1:56.83) and the 500 freestyle (4:48.43).
