Four Lions score in double figures in 81-57 victory

Guard Nicole Diaz recorded a career-high nine assists.

Gwynedd Valley, PA… The College of New Jersey women's basketball team had four players score in double figures as the Lions handled Widener University 81-57 in the opening round of the Gwynedd-Mercy College Classic on Friday in Pennsylvania.

The win put the Lions at 7-3 on the season and they will take on the host Griffins on Saturday with tip-off set for 1 p.m.

Leading the charge for TCNJ was sophomore Alex Gregorek (Mahwah, NJ/Academy of Holy Angels) as she tallied a team high 15 points, while junior Hillary Klimowicz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) and senior Sara Best (Voorhees, NJ/High Bridge) each contributed 14 points. Junior Alyssa Michella (Washington, Twp., NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) was the fourth Lion to score in double figures finishing with 13 points.

Each of the nine TCNJ players who got into the game scored at least one point in the win with freshman Kelsey Kutch (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) chipping in with nine.

Sophomore point guard Nicole Diaz (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) also had a strong game as she dished out a career-high nine assists.
