Newburgh, NY… The College of New Jersey women's basketball team suffered its first setback on young season as the Lions fell 59-55 at Mount Saint Mary College on Tuesday.
The loss put the Lions at 2-1 on the year, while the Blue Knights squared their record at 1-1.
The hosts limited TCNJ to only 28.6 percent shooting in the first half and held a 28-22 advantage at the break.
The Lions cut into that lead in the second frame outscoring the Blue Knights 33-31, but Mount Saint Mary withheld TCNJ's push to hold on for the win.
Senior Hillary Klimowicz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) picked up her first double-double of the season with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Sophomore Keri Washington (Ewing, NJ/Pennington Prep) and senior Alyssa Michella (Washington, TWP., NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) each added nine points for the Lions, while Alexandra Gregorek (Mahwah, NJ/Academy of Holy Angels) added eight.
The Lions return to action this weekend with another road non-conference game heading to Salisbury to face the Sea Gulls in a 3:30 p.m. start on Saturday, November 22.
