TCNJ remains perfect with win at Bloomsburg

Bloomsburg, PA…The College of New Jersey's men's swimming team traveled to Division II Bloomsburg University on Friday night for a dual meet with the Huskies. TCNJ's men's team posted a 121.5-82.5 victory and remain undefeated as they are now 6-0.

TCNJ's men's team opened with a win in the 400 medley relay in 3:40.79 as senior tri-captains Mike Heaney (Voorhees, NJ/Bishop Eustace) and Ted Yoa (Ocean City, NJ/St. Augustine), teamed with sophomore Aaron Moskovich (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) and freshman Jesse Taylor (Closter, NJ/Northern Valley).

Sophomore Tom Medvecky (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) won the 200 freestyle in 1:46.02, while senior Tom Nawrot (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) won the 50 freestyle in 22.11. Rookie Ryan Clark (Ocean City, NJ/St. Augustine) added a win in the 200 individual medley in 1:59.82, while fellow Lion sophomore Joe Tseng (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park) was right behind him in the race in 2:00.12 for second place.

Rookie Mike Vernoia (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) added a win in the 200 butterfly in 2:00.90, while sophomore Tim Rauch (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) added a third place finish in the race in 2:02.24.

Junior Eric Rohrs (Congers, NY/Clarkstown High North) won the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.60, while Heaney picked up third place in the event in 1:03.36. Sophomore Shawn Kircher (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) won the 100 freestyle in 48.09, while Moskovich picked up third in 51.68.

Sophomore Peter Goldsmith (Easton, PA/Easton Area) captured a second in the 500 freestyle in 5:06.63, while Taylor picked up third in the 500 freestyle in 5:08.52.

Senior Mike Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) picked up a second in the 1,000 freestyle in 10:07.62, while junior James VanBiervliet (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) finished in second in the 100 backstroke in 55.67.

The Lions finished in first and second in the final race of the dual meet as they posted a strong showing in the 400 freestyle relay. Winning the race in 3:12.25 were Clark, Kircher, Medvecky and Nawrot, while the foursome of Molloy, junior Myles O'Connor (Santa Monica, CA), sophomore Tim Rauch (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough), and Vernoia took second in 3:17.11.
