Lions pull away from Salisbury for 70-52 victory

Salisbury, MD… The College of New Jersey women's basketball team used a big run in the second half to break open a one-point game as the Lions went on to collect a 70-52 road win at Salisbury University on Saturday.

The Lions led 35-30 at the half, but the hosts came out and scored the first four points of the new frame making it a one-point game. The Lions responded by going on a 20-9 run putting them in front 55-43. TCNJ took its biggest at the final buzzer.

The win bumped TCNJ's record to 3-1 on the season, while the Sea Gulls dropped to 0-4.

Junior Alexandra Gregorek (Mahwah, NJ/Academy of Holy Angels) had a big game in the paint for the Lions scoring a game-high 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the floor. Sophomore Kelsey Kutch (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) contributed with 21 points and eight rebounds and also shot well from the floor sinking 7-of-12 attempts. The final Lion to score in double figures was senior Alyssa Michella (Washington, TWP., NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) as she finished with 12 points.

Point guard Karen Lassoni (East Rutherford, NJ/East Rutherford) added to the win with a season-best seven assists.

TCNJ has a break in the schedule and won't return to the court until Tuesday, December 2 heading to Moravian College to face the Greyhounds in 7 p.m. start.
