Men's Swimmers down F & M to stay perfect

Lancaster, PA…The College of New Jersey's men's swimming team collected its fourth win on the season as they defeated Franklin & Marshall College on Saturday. The Lion men beat the Diplomats 121-81. The Lions are 4-0 on the year, while F & M drops to 0-2.

TCNJ's sophomore Joe Tseng (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park) added two individual firsts and was part of a winning relay to lead the Lions on Saturday.

TCNJ's men's team opened with a win in the 200 medley relay as Tseng, senior Ted Yoa (Ocean City, NJ/St. Augustine), sophomore Tom Medvecky (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway), and rookie Mike Vernoia (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) recorded a time of 1:38.71 to win the event.

Tseng was the winner in the 1,000 freestyle in 10:33.15 and sophomore Robert Moran (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) took second in the event in 10:57.37. Tseng added a first in the 100 backstroke as well with his time of 54.60. Medvecky won the 200 freestyle in 1:44.47, while rookie Jesse Taylor (Closter, NJ/Northern Valley) added a second place showing in the race in 1:50.87.

Sophomore Shawn Kirchner (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) captured the 50 freestyle in 22.27, while rookie Ryan Clarke (Ocean City, NJ/St. Augustine) won the 200 individual medley in 2:00.10. Vernoia added a second for the Lions in too 100 butterfly in 54.73, while senior Tom Nawrot (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) won the 100 backstroke in 48.34.

Junior Eric Rohrs (Congers, NY/Clarkstown High North) won the 500 freestyle for TCNJ in 5:13.72. Senior Ted Yoa (Ocean City, NJ/St. Augustine) picked up a second place finish in the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.52.

The Lions wrapped the meet winning the 200 freestyle relay in 1:27.38 as Clarke, Kircher, Medvecky and Nawrot combined for the winning score and time.

TCNJ returns to action on Sunday, November 9 for a match-up at Southern Connecticut State University in a 2 p.m. meet.
