Phoenix, AZ… The College of New Jersey women's basketball team completed its western holiday trip with a perfect 2-0 mark as the Lions cruised past Lesley University 59-35 on Tuesday at the Grand Canyon Trip Sports Classic in Arizona.
The Lions are now 7-3 on the season and are riding a modest four-game winning streak. During that winning streak, the team's defense has excelled allowing only 36.2 points per game.
The loss knocked the Lynx to 1-6.
Junior Alexandra Gregorek (Mahwah, NJ/Academy of Holy Angels) had a big game for the Lions with a double-double scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Sophomore Kelsey Kutch (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) also finished with a dozen points and added four assists and four steals. Senior Alyssa Michella (Washington, Twp., NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) added 10 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Stephanie Prall (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) finished with nine points, four rebounds and three assists.
In limited action, senior Hillary Klimowicz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) finished with five points as she moved closer to becoming the 12th player in program history to score 1,000 points. She currently sits at 988.
The Lions don't return to the court until January 7, 2009 when they host Richard Stockton College at Packer Hall in a 6 p.m. start.
