Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey women's basketball team hosted Arcadia University on Tuesday night in Packer Hall. The contest was the first home match-up for the Lions on the season and they cruised to a 71-20 victory to improve 4-3 overall, while Arcadia drops to 1-5.
TCNJ opened the game racking up 19 points and led 19-0 before the Knights scored their first basket with 12 minutes left in the first half. TCNJ's senior center
Hillary Klimowicz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) racked up all 14 of her points in the first half on a 7-for-9 effort from the floor and did not return. By game's end, she led all players with her 14 points and now has 955 career points at TCNJ and is poised to become the 12th women's player to join the 1,000 point club at The College.
Junior guard
Karen Lassoni (East Rutherford, NJ/Becton Regional) tallied all eight of her points in the first half as the Lions shot 45.7% from the floor and forced 12 turnovers. By game's end, Lassoni had racked a career-high eight points.
Arcadia's senior guard Shannon Bustin (Glenolden, PA/Interboro) led her team with four points off the bench, while junior forward Liz Plum (Deptford, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) added four rebounds in the first stanza.
Sophomore guard
Stephanie Prall (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) handed out a personal best seven assists, while adding = four steals and two points. Junior center
Alexandra Gregorek (Mahwah, NJ/Academy of the Holy Angels) finished in double-digit scoring figures as she netted 11 points with six rebounds. Senior
Alyssa Michella (Washington Township, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) chipped in with 12 points for the Lions as 10 different players scored on the night. Sophomore
Kelsey Kutch (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) also had a strong game with 10.
Arcadia's junior guard Kim Milligan (Crofton, MD/South River) led her squad with six points, while Bustin also added six points. Plum led her team with five rebounds with three steals.
The Lions are at home again on Sunday, December 14 hosting Marymount University (VA) in a 3 p.m. start in Packer Hall, while the Knights host Rowan University on Saturday, December 13 at 1 p.m.
