Pomona, NJ… The College of New Jersey women's basketball team won its fifth straight game as the Lions used a strong second half to beat Richard Stockton College by the score of 58-32 on Saturday.
With the win, TCNJ improved to 18-5 overall on the season and moved into a first-place tie in the New Jersey Athletic Conference South Division with Kean University as both teams are 9-2 in conference play.
The Lions got off to a slow start shooting only 25 percent from the floor in the opening half, but still carried a 25-18 lead into the half.
TCNJ shined on both ends of the floor in the second half knocking down 56 percent of its attempts, while holding the Ospreys to a 24.1 percent. In that second frame, the Lions outscored the Ospreys 33-14.
Junior Hillary Klimowicz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) continued her strong play as she picked up her 18th double-double of the season leading the Lions with 18 points and 16 rebounds.
Sophomore Alex Gregorek (Mahwah, NJ/Academy of Holy Angels) finished with 15 points for TCNJ and junior Alyssa Michella (Washington Township, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) added 10.
TCNJ returns home on Wednesday, February 20 for another NJAC contest hosting rival Rowan University in the final home game of the season. Game time is 6 p.m.
