Scranton, PA… The College of New Jersey wrestling team capped the regular season with two more dual met wins as the Lions bested both the University of Scranton and Oswego State on Saturday.

The Lions started the day with a 26-13 victory over Oswego State and then handled Scranton, 53-0. Those two victories pushed TCNJ's winning streak to nine straight and they caps the year with 19-3 record.

Against Oswego, the Lions took charge early winning by pin in the first two weight classes as freshman Dan Hughes (Delran, NJ/Delran) won by fall at 125 and senior Ray Sarinelli (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills) followed with another at 133.

After the Lakers recorded a win at 141, TCNJ reeled off five straight wins by decision to take a commanding 26-4 lead. Oswego won at 197 and 285 making the final 26-13.

The Lions dominated the host Royals as they recorded their second shutout of the season. Sophomore Danny Franke (Jackson, NJ/Freehold) opened the dual meet with a pin in 2:00 at 125 and was the first of four for TCNJ in the win. The other pins were turned in by Joe Bozzomo (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) at 184, freshman Mike Denver (Bayville, NJ/Central Regional) at 197 and senior Steve Carbone (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) at 285.

TCNJ also won three matches by technical fall with junior John Dinan (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) winning 17-1 at 157, freshman Justin Bonitatis (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) coming out on top 24-8 at 165 and junior Greg Osgoodby (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) recording a 19-2 victory at 174.

The Lions return to the mat on Sunday, February 24 when they head to Wilkes University for the Metropolitan Conference Championships. The winners from each weight class plus seven “wild cards” will then advance to the 2008 NCAA Division III Championships in early March.
