Mosteller's key singles win lift Lions past No. 11 UMW

Ewing, NJ – The 20th ranked Lions of The College of New Jersey men's tennis team tallied an impressive home win on Sunday as they beat the No. 11 ranked Eagles of the University of Mary Washington. TCNJ improves to 9-3 overall and is now riding a five-match win streak. TCNJ has now collected three wins this season over Top 15 ranked opponents.

TCNJ's seniors Mike Klimchak (Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) and Roger Mosteller (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) added a win with one another at first doubles. The pair improves to 10-3 on the year together this spring and 43-11 overall on their careers with one another. They beat UMW's junior Randy Loden (Richmond, VA) and freshman Kaz Murata (Nashville, TN), 8-6. TCNJ's victory at first doubles came over the South Atlantic Region's fourth ranked pair.

Klimchak added a 6-1, 6-1 victory over junior John James (Mt. Kisco, NY) to improve to 15-8 on the year in singles play and is now 137-40 on his career at TCNJ, while Mosteller who added the win at fourth singles on Sunday as he beat sophomore Evan Goff (Raleigh, NC) in three sets (6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-2 clinched the match for the Lions. With his two wins on Sunday, Mosteller holds a 74-15 career record at TCNJ,

TCNJ's sophomore Jeremy Eckardt (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) was a winner at third singles, beating senior Eddie Carver (Norfolk, VA), 6-4, 6-2. He is now 13-5 in singles play and team at second doubles with senior Eric Ferriere (Montague, NJ/Kittatinny) for an 8-2 win. The Lions duo beat Goff and senior Jon Pollak (Amherst, NY) and improve to 10-3 on the year together.

Loden, who ranks first in the South Atlantic Region in singles, tallied a 6-4, 6-2 win over Ferriere at second singles, putting Ferriere at 12-8 on the year.
