Lions knock off 12th ranked Salisbury

Ewing, NJ – The 17th ranked Lions of The College of New Jersey men's tennis team tallied an impressive home win on Saturday afternoon as they knocked off 12th ranked Salisbury University. TCNJ improves to 7-3, while Salisbury drops to 14-2. The win was the third in the row for the Lions, while TCNJ snapped the Sea Gulls' six-match wins streak in the process. The win for the Lions marks their second victory over a Top 15 ranked team on the 2008 spring.

TCNJ's seniors Mike Klimchak (Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) and Roger Mosteller (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) added a win with one another at first doubles. The pair is now 8-3 with one another this spring and has combined to produce a record of 41-11 with one another. They beat SU's sophomore Scott Burtzlaff (Clarksville, MD) and senior Brendan Kincaid (Cambridge, MD), 8-6. Kincaid and Burtlaff drop to 16-4 on the year and are ranked 10th regionally in the South Atlantic region.

Kincaid would post a 6-4, 6-4 win over Klimchak at first singles. Kincaid, who is ranked 13th regionally is now 17-3 on the year, while after Saturday's loss, Klimchak drops to 13-8 and is now 133-40 on his career at TCNJ, while Mosteller who added the win at fourth singles on Saturday as he beat sophomore Evan Thomas (Salisbury, MD), 6-1, 6-0. Mosteller is now 70-15 in his three years as a Lion.

Senior Eric Ferriere (Montague, NJ/Kittatinny) was a double winner as well with a three-set win at second singles and a win at second doubles. He stands at 12-6 on the year in singles and has produced an 8-3 mark with sophomore Jeremy Eckardt (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) in doubles action.
