Hoboken, NJ…Ranked fifth in Division III, the Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology handed the The College of New Jersey men's soccer team their first loss of the season. Stevens was led by the hat trick by junior Terrence Johnson (New Orleans, LA/Pemberton) as they improved to 5-0 on the season, while the No. 19 ranked Lions fall to just 3-1-1.
Johnson would spot Stevens to a 1-0 lead at the half with his third goal of the year at 25:18 on a feed from junior Chris Faustino (Union, NJ/Union). Johnson tallied again with an unassisted goal at 53:11. Johnson posted the hat trick on a corner kick as senior Craig Moquin (Breiningsville, PA/Parkland) assisted on the play at 77:45 for his team-leading fifth score of the young season.
In net for the Lions sophomore Eric Goldwaser (Wyckoff, NJ/Indian Hills) made two saves with three goals allowed in 77:45. Sophomore Chris Kulick (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) added two saves in 12:15 minutes of work.
Steven's sophomore Zach Carr (Carmel, IN/Carmel) picked up his second shutout of the season after turning away two shots faced.
TCNJ returns to action travelling to Virginia this weekend to compete in the tournament at Christopher Newport University. On Saturday, the Lions will face the host, Christopher Newport at 6 p.m., while taking on Methodist College on Sunday at 4 p.m.
