Newport News, VA…The College of New Jersey men's soccer team fell 3-1 on Saturday night to the host Captains of Christopher Newport University. With the win, CNU is now 4-1, while TCNJ which is ranked 19th in Division III is now 3-2-1.

CNU would jump out to a 2-0 lead as freshman Winston Mattheisen (Norfolk, VA/Jamestown) scored at 16:01 followed by what would be the game-winning goal at 24:22 from freshman Nao Masuda (Radford, CA/Radford) on a feed from Mattheisen. CNU led 3-0 on an own goal before TCNJ's junior tallied his third goal of the season on a feed from Kevin Luber (Delran, NJ/Delran). Luber now has 14 goals and 12 assists for 40 career points.

In net for the Lions sophomore Chris Kulick (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) made three saves in his first start.

TCNJ returns to action on Sunday facing Methodist College on Sunday at 4 p.m. in the final day of the CNU tournament.
