Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey men's soccer team hosted the Profs of Rowan University on Wednesday night. Junior forward Kevin Luber (Delran, NJ/Delran) provided two first half goals to help the Lions defeat Rowan in Lions' Stadium. By game's end, he had earned his first career hat trick.
With the win, the Lions improve to 6-3-1 and 2-0 in the NJAC, while Rowan drops to 3-5 and 0-2 in the conference.
Luber tallied his first goal on a penalty kick after a foul in the box at 21:27. Luber would score again at 34:22 when he tallied a chip shot that went over Rowan's junior goalie Joel Sanger (Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Regional). He added his third goal of the match at 71:43 on a pass from brothers Chris and Ray Nelan (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights). The hat trick was the first of his career for the junior, who now leads the Lions this fall with his five goals and 14 points. On his career, Luber has collected 16 goals and 14 assists for 46 points, while adding three game-winning goals.
TCNJ's sophomore goalie Eric Goldwaser (Wyckoff, NJ/Indian Hills) made seven saves for the Lions and earned his fourth shutout of the year as he is now 6-1-1 in goal. Sanger picked up saves on the night and drops to 3-5 in goal.
Now in his 14th season with the Lions, Head Coach George Nazario now owns a career record of 149-91-24. He will go for his 150th career win when the Lions travel to nationally ranked Montclair State University on Saturday, September 27 at 7 p.m. in Montclair, NJ.
