Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey women's basketball team hosted the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers University-Camden on Wednesday night in Packer Hall. TCNJ would collect the 85-46 win as they tallied their tenth straight win to improve to 13-3 overall and 5-1 in the NJAC, while Rutgers-Camden drops to 1-14 overall and 0-6 in the NJAC.
TCNJ would jump out to a 12-0 lead in the first two minutes and by the half would hold a 53-25 lead. TCNJ's sophomore forward Kelsey Kutch (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) paced the team with 11 points in the first half, while senior center Hillary Klimowicz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) added 10 points and eight rebounds in the first half as the Lions held the Scarlet Raptors to just 36.0% shooting (9-25), while hitting 57.1% of their shots (20-35). By game's end, Kutch would net a career-high 23 points with a season-high 11 rebounds. Kutch hit 9-of-15 shots from the floor and added a career-high six assists.
Rutgers-Camden's senior guard Shamira McNair (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) had eight first half points, including a pair of three-point baskets, while handing out three assists.
By game's end sophomore forward Karima Blackwell (Somerdale, NJ/Sterling) would finish with 13 points, while McNair would finish with 12 points, six assists, and three steals for the Scarlet Raptors.
TCNJ's rookie guard Hannah Tait (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy) collected a career-high 13 points after making 6-of-9 shots from the floor, while Klimowicz added netted her 33rd double-double after adding 16 points with a game-high 13 rebounds.
TCNJ returns to action on January 24 hosting William Paterson University in a 1:00 p.m. contest, while Rutgers-Camden faces Ramapo also on Saturday in a 1:00 p.m. match-up to be held at Gloucester County College.
