Pomona, NJ... The College of New Jersey field hockey team scored three goals in the first 15 minutes of the game as the Lions went on to a 9-1 road win at Richard Stockton College on Tuesday.
The win put the Lions at 7-3 on the season and 3-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, while the Ospreys dipped to 0-3 in the conference and 3-11 overall.
TCNJ had gone to overtime in each of its last four games, but the Lions made sure they didn't need extra time against Richard Stockton getting off to a very fast start. Junior Jessica Falcone (Cherry Hill, NJ/Camden Catholic) opened the scoring just 1:01 into the game and just over 10 minutes later freshman Caitlyn Jenkins (Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway) made it a 2-0 game. That lead stretched to three goals 1:32 later as freshman Jillian Nealon (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) scored with an assist from Camille Passucci (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls).
After the Ospreys got on the board as Jackie Turner (Medford/Shawnee) scored her fourth goal of the season as junior back Danielle Morris (Millstone/ Allentown) registered her first career point with an assist.
Jenkins and Nealon added goals before the half ended sending the Lions into the break with a 5-1 advantage.
In the second half, Jenkins completed her first collegiate hat trick sandwiching goals around one by Christy Wham (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville), while Kellyn Riley (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) closed out the scoring for the 9-1 final. In all, Jenkins finished the game with four goals.
Sophomore Sammi Brach (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) made three saves for the Lions.
TCNJ returns home on Tuesday, October 22 hosting Cabrini College at Lions' Stadium in a 7:30 p.m. start.
