Box Score

Cortland, NY... Sophomore Shannon Syciarz (Garwood, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) tied a school record for most saves in a game, but it wasn't enough as The College of New Jersey field hockey team saw its upset bid at sixth-ranked SUNY Cortland thwarted in double overtime as the Red Dragons pulled out a 2-1 win on Sunday.

Syciarz stopped 22 shots, which included one on a penalty stroke, as she tied the mark originally set by Charlotte Heenan back in the 1985 season.

The Lions finished the regular season with a record of 9-6, while the Red Dragons boasted their second undefeated season in school history going 18-0.

TCNJ opened the scoring 15:53 into the game as sophomore Alex Okuniewicz (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) scored on an assist from freshman Jillian Nealon (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central). The goal was Okuniewicz's seventh of the season.

The Red Dragons got the equalizer before the end of the half and then netted the winning score on a shot by Liz DeWaters (Lockport, NY/Royalton-Hartland) with 5:57 remaining in the second of two 15-minute overtime periods.
