Box Score

Swarthmore, PA…The College of New Jersey women's basketball team won the Swarthmore Tip-Off Tournament as the Lions sealed the tournament crown by beating Haverford College 68-44 on Sunday behind a career-best performance from sophomore Jessica Imhof (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central).

Imhof netted a career-high 16 points and shot 7-for-8 from the floor, while knocking down two of her three attempts from behind the 3-point line. Imhof earned a spot on the all-tournament team, while teammate Hannah Tait (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy) was tabbed as the tournament's most valuable player.

The win squares TCNJ's record at an even 2-2, while the Fords are 1-1 on the season.

After Haverford opened the scoring and then briefly led 3-2, the Lions took over and never looked back gaining the lead for good on a bucket by Candace Vigo (New Brunswick, NJ/New Brunswick Health Science Tech.). Once they gained the lead, TCNJ kept adding to it, leading by as many as 14 points in the half at 33-19. The Lions carried a 33-23 lead into the half.

In the second half, TCNJ took its biggest lead of the game in the closing moments as Megan Hartline (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) recorded her first points in a Lions uniform for a 68-43 lead.

The Lion defense played a big role in wide margin of victory holding the Fords without a field goal the last 5:31 of the game. For the game, TCNJ limited Haverford to only 22.4 percent shooting from the floor.

Junior Kelsey Kutch (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) scored in double figures for TCNJ with 11 points, while Vigo added 10 points. Tait was the fourth Lion to score in double digits as she tallied 10 points and the sophomore has now reached double figures in all four games this season.

Junior Keri Washington (Ewing, NJ/Pennington Prep) added to the win with nine points.

The Lions don't return to the court until Wednesday, December 2 when they open New Jersey Athletic Conference play hosting Rowan University in a 6 p.m. start in Packer Hall.
