Elizabethtown, PA…The College of New Jersey women's basketball team closed out the non-conference portion of the schedule in impressive fashion posting a 80-56 victory at Elizabethtown College on Thursday.
The win elevated TCNJ's record to 17-4, while the Blue Jays dipped to 10-11.
The Lions never trailed in the game scoring the first seven points of the contest and carried that fast start to a 39-27 lead at the half.
That lead continued to grow in the second half as TCNJ led by as many as 25 points in the closing minutes.
Senior Hillary Klimowicz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) continued her torrid pace from the floor for the Lions as she poured in 23 points making 11-of-12 shots from the floor. The center also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
Junior forward Alexandra Gregorek (Mahwah, NJ/Academy of Holy Angels) added to TCNJ's dominance in the paint with 19 points, while senior Alyssa Michella (Washington, Twp., NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) added 12, with all four of her baskets coming from behind the 3-point arc. Sophomore Kelsey Kutch (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) was the fourth and final Lion to reach double figures as she dropped in 11 points.
The Lions return to New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Saturday, February 7 as they head to Richard Stockton College in a 4 p.m. start against the Ospreys.
