Ewing, NJ…Playing on the road for the first time this season, The College of New jersey women's lacrosse team continued to roll along as the Lions posted a 17-0 victory at Kean University on Monday.
Fourth-ranked TCNJ is now 3-0 on the young season and 2-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
Sophomore Leigh Mitchell (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) started the scoring for the Lions 1:27 into the game as that goal turned out to be the game winner.
Senior Rachel Gordon (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West), junior Robin Deehan (Morris Plains, NJ/Academy of St. Elizabeth), sophomore Alison Jaeger (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) and Mitchell each scored three goals with Gordon also chipping in with an assist.
Freshman Kathleen Notos (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) contributed with one goal and pair of assists, while senior Katie Reuther (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) also had a three-point game with all of those points coming on assists.
In goal for the Lions, sophomores Mary Waller (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) and Lindsay Wallin (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) each played a half in picking up the shutout.
TCNJ held a 14-0 lead and the break and overall in the game the Lions outshot the Cougars 26-0.
TCNJ next game is on Saturday, March 21 hosting SUNY Cortland in a 1p.m. start at Lions' Stadium.
