Collegeville, PA…The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team ran its record to 5-0 as the Lions handled host Ursinus College by the score of 19-4 on Thursday.
TCJN, ranked fourth in the latest IWLCA Division III poll, got off to a solid start as freshman Sara Keating (Upper Montclair, NJ/Montclair) ignited the attack scoring exactly one minute into the contest on a feed from sophomore Alison Jaeger (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon). Jaeger the kept things going on her own scoring the team's second goal just over three minutes later.
The Lions tallied the first eight goals of the game before the Bears broke through with 6:19 left in the period. TCNJ carried a 10-2 lead into the half.
TCNJ controlled the tempo again in the second half outscoring Ursinus 9-2 in the final 30 minutes.
Jaeger had a huge game for the Lions scoring six goals and two assists for eight points. Both the six goals and eight points were career highs. Junior Lisa Seldeen (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) also had a solid game with four goals and one assist, while junior Robin Deehan (Morris Plains, NJ/Academy of St. Elizabeth) chipped in with three goals. Senior Katie Reuther (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) turned in a four-point performance with one goal and three assists.
Sophomore Mary Waller (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) picked up her fifth win of the season between the pipes making a career-high eight saves.
TCNJ returns home on Sunday, March 29 to host 17th-ranked St. Mary's College (MD) in a 1 p.m. start in Lions' Stadium.
