F & M tops Lions in a rematch of 2008 national semifinal

Lancaster, PA…The College of New Jersey held a double-figure advantage in shots on goal, but third-ranked Franklin & Marshall College made the most of their chances scoring a 17-8 win over the fourth-ranked Lions on Friday in Lancaster.

TCNJ is now 10-2 on the season with both loses coming at the hands of teams ranked in the top five nationally.

With the win, the Diplomats improved to 13-1.

The game was a rematch of the 2008 NCAA Division III National Semifinal that saw the Diplomats hold off the Lions, 14-12.

The Lions outshot F & M by a margin of 36-23, but the hosts were able to grab a 9-3 lead at the half and they never relinquished it.

Sophomore Alison Jaeger (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) led TCNJ with five goals while junior Lisa Seldeen (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) netted a pair of and senior Katie Reuther (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) added one.

Sophomore Mary Waller (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) finished with three saves.

The Lions return home on Tuesday, April 21 hosting Montclair State University at 7:30 p.m. at Lions Stadium.
