Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team rolled to its eighth straight victory as the Lions defeated Cabrini College by the score of 15-2 on Thursday at Lions' Stadium.
The win puts the Lions at 8-0, while Cabrini falls to 5-3 after winning five straight games.
TCJN took control from the start as Lisa Seldeen (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) opened the scoring 2:30 into the game on a feed from senior Katie Reuther (Toms River, NJ/Toms River) and the team continued to roll from there. The Lions scored all nine goals in the opening half to lead 9-0 at the break.
The Lions scored four more goals before the Cavaliers broke through on a tally by Anna Scholl (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll).
Sophomore Alison Jaeger (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) boasted another big game with six goals and seven points, while Seldeen had four goals and a pair of assists. Freshman Jackie Riley (North Caldwell, NJ/West Essex) added to the offense with a pair of goals.
Sophomore Mary Waller (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) continued her steady play as she set a career high with nine saves to earn her eighth win of the season.
In goal for the Cavaliers, junior Kate Schmid (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert's) made 11 saves.
The Lions face a tough test in their next contest as they head to undefeated and fourth-ranked Gettysburg College on Sunday, April 5 in a 1 p.m. start, while Cabrini hosts Centenary College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
