Mahwah, NJ…The College of New Jersey women's basketball team picked up a key conference road win at Ramapo College on Saturday as the Lions defeated Ramapo College, 68-58.
The win puts TCNJ back over the .500 mark in the New Jersey Athletic Conference South Division at 5-4, while moving to 12-9 overall.
The loss knocked the Roadrunners to 8-12 overall and 2-5 in the NJAC North Division.
Ramapo took an early 6-5 lead, but a 3-pointer by sophomore Hannah Tait (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy) put the Lions in front for good. TCNJ led by as many as 21 points in the opening 20 minutes before taking a 35-27 lead into the half.
TCNJ maintained a cushion in the second half leading by as many as 16 points as they earned its second road win in conference play.
Tait and classmate Jessica Imhof (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) each had big games for the Lions finishing with 17 points. Tait added seven rebounds and five assists, while Imhof shot a solid 6-for-8 from the floor, including a 3-for-4 performance from beyond the 3-point arc. Those 17 points were also a career high.
Junior Kelsey Kutch (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) contributed to the victory with eight points, while freshman Candace Vigo (New Brunswick, NJ/New Brunswick Health Science Tech.) chipped in with six points sinking all three of her attempts from the floor.
TCNJ continues conference play on Wednesday, February 3 heading to Rowan University to take on the Profs in a 6 p.m. start.
