Ewing, NJ ….. SUNY Cortland quarterback Dan Pitcher (Cortland, NY/Cortland) threw four touchdown passes as the Red Dragons spoiled homecoming for The College of New Jersey with a 37-0 win over the Lions on Saturday.

The win put the 21st-ranked Red Dragons at 4-0 overall and 4-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, while TCNJ dipped to 1-2 in the conference and 1-3 overall.

Cortland posted its second straight shutout and limited the Lions to 91 total yards.

The Red Dragons used a pair of quick scores in the opening quarter to take the lead with Justin Autera (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) accounting for both of them. Autera's first touchdown came on a 27-yard run and the second came through the air as he hauled in a pass covering 14 yards. Marc Corrado (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) added the point after on both scores to make it a 14-0 game.

Pitcher made it 20-0 with his second touchdown pass of the game on the second play of the second quarter connecting with Anthony Giuliano (Thornwood, NY/Westlake) in the back of the end zone.

TCNJ defense came up with a goal-line stand late in the half as William Haduch (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville) intercepted a Pitcher pass at the Lion one thwarting a Red Dragon scoring drive. Cortland, however, added another score with six seconds left in the half as Pitcher found Giuliano again with this play coming from 10 yards out. Corrado added the extra point as the Red Dragons led 27-0 at the break.

In the second half, Corrado opened the scoring for the Red Dragons with a 26-yard field goal, while Pitcher capped off his big day with a 56-yard touchdown pass to Giuliano.

Sophomore Greg Burns (Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton West) had a solid game on defense for the Lions as the linebacker finished with a team-leading eight tackles (three solo) and juniors Shawn Brown (Long Branch, NJ/Long Branch) and Dan DeCongelio (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ/St. Peter's Prep) each chipped in with seven tackles. Junior Michael Lambert (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) led the Lions with five solo tackles.

Junior Connor Timpkins (Ossining, NY/Sleepy Hallow) paced Cortland's defense with six solo tackles.

Pitcher finished the game going 13-for-21 for 224 yards with one interception. Giuliano hauled in four of those passes for 139 yards and three scores.

TCNJ is back on the road next Saturday heading to 16th-ranked Montclair State University for a 3 p.m. start, while the Red Dragons head home to face The College at Brockport at 1 p.m.
