Ewing, NJ ... The College of New Jersey football team squares off with long-time rival Rowan University in its regular season finale at Lions' Stadium at noon on Saturday.
The Lions (5-4, 5-3 NJAC) have won their last four games and have two sources of motivation when they line up against the Profs (8-1, 7-1 NJAC). First, winning their fifth straight game will put them in the mix for a post-season game in the ECAC. Second, they could play the role of spoiler, as Rowan is in position to earn a share of the NJAC title, and potential automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
TCNJ defeated Kean University last week in a defensive battle. Quarterback
James Donoghue (Shamong, NJ/Seneca) hooked up with wide receiver
Brian Mills (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrence) for a 26-yard touchdown pass completiton with 52 seconds remaining in the game.
Rowan defeated WestConn 57-0 last week in its home finale.
The two teams will have at it on TCNJ's campus and noon in Lions' Stadium.
Note: The Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is organizing a "Can Drive" for Thanksgiving. There will be a box at the ticket window for Saturday's football game if students, fans, or parents would like to donate any canned goods for the holidays.
