Pomona, NJ…The College of New Jersey women's basketball team saw its bid for a spot in the upcoming New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament come up one game short as the Lions fell at Richard Stockton College 73-44 on Wednesday in the season finale.
With that win, the Ospreys (13-12, 7-6 NJAC) claimed the third seed from the South Division leaving the Lions, last year's tournament champions, on the outside looking in.
The loss caps TCNJ's season at 13-12 and 6-7 in conference play.
Richard Stockton never trailed in the game as the Ospreys scored the first nine points of the contest and then led 26-5 midway through the period. The hosts led 40-13 at the break.
The Lions came out with a spark early in the second half putting together a 10-0 run to cut the deficit to 42-23 as sophomore Jessica Imhof (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) contributed six points during that span, including a 3-pointer.
Following TCNJ's run, the Ospreys were able to rebuild their advantage and wrap up the final playoff from the South Division.
Imhof was dialed in all game as she finished with a game-high 17 points shooting 7-for-12 from the floor. Sophomore Hannah Tait (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy) finished with seven points and Keri Washington (Ewing, NJ/Pennington Prep) had six.
