Leigh Mitchell (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) made a triumphant return to the field as she scored the game's only goal lifting The College of New Jersey hockey field hockey team to a 1-0 win over Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday.
Mitchell, who missed the entire 2009 season due to injury, scored with 8:29 remaining in the game as she dove to the turf and to knock in a loose ball for the lone score of the contest.
The Lions entered the season opener ranked 17th nationally, while the Ducks were one spot behind at 18th.

Shannon Syciarz (Garwood, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) benefitted from a solid defensive effort as she did not face a shot to secure the shutout.

This weekend, the Lions head to Hoboken to participate in the Stevens Tournament facing King's College on Saturday, September 4 and 16th-ranked Juniata College on Sunday, September 5. Both of those games begin at noon.
