St. Davids, PA… Eastern University scored the game's only goal in the opening half as the host Eagles dealt The College of New Jersey field hockey its first loss of the season on Tuesday with the 1-0 decision.

The loss knocked the 12th-ranked Lions to 5-1 on the season, while the win bumped the 14th-ranked Eagles to 4-1. This marked the third time in six games TCNJ has faced an opponent ranked in the top 20 this season.

Eastern's Brittany Moyer (Telford, PA/Christopher Dock) scored the only goal of the contest with 8:17 remaining before the half.

Junior goalie Shannon Syciarz (Garwood, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) had three saves for the Lions.

TCNJ held an edge in overall shots against the Eagles, 10-8.

The Lions are idle until Sunday, September 18 when they head to Reading, PA to take on Alvernia University in a 1 p.m. start.
