Box Score

Hoboken, NJ… The College of New Jersey field hockey team finished its stretch of three games in five days with a perfect mark as the Lions completed their hectic start of the season with a 2-1 win over Juniata College on Sunday in the final day of the Stevens Tournament.

Seventeenth-ranked TCNJ is now 3-0 on the season with two of those wins coming over ranked opponents, including Sunday's win over the 16th-ranked Eagles.

Junior Leigh Mitchell (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) netted the deciding goal 9:28 into the second half with an assist from sophomore Kathleen Notos (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic). The goal was Mitchell's second game-winner of the season.

Each team scored early in the first half with the Lions getting on the board first as sophomore Camille Passucci (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) tallied her first of the season with an assist from senior Kellyn Riley (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry West)

In goal for the Lions, junior Shannon Syciarz (Garwood, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) improved her own record to 3-0 as she finished with a season-high seven saves. She also had plenty of help from her teammates as Alex Okuniewicz (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South), Kristen O'Neill (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City), and Mary Waller (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) each had defensive saves.

TCNJ remains on the road with a non-conference matchup at Manhattanville College on Tuesday in a 4 p.m. start.
