Alex Gregorek (Mahwah, NJ/Academy of Holy Angels) scored a game-high 20 points as The College of New Jersey women's basketball team brought an end to Moravian's four game winning streak as the Lions netted a 75-51 road win on Tuesday.
Following the non-conference game, both teams sport identical 9-7 records.
The teams played a tight game for parts of the first half, but the Lions performed steady throughout, capping the opening 20 minutes with a modest 6-0 run that saw the visitors take a 34-23 lead into the half. TCNJ shot an impressive 62.5 percent from the floor in the opening stanza knocking down 15-of-24 shots from the field.
In the second half, the Lions gradually pulled away leading by as many 27 points late in the period.
In addition to Gregorek's 20 points, the center tied a season-high with 11 rebounds and also blocked three shots. Juniors
Jessica Imhof (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) and
Hannah Tait (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy) each finished with 15 points, while Imhof added a career-high six steals.
Senior
Keri Washington (Ewing, NJ/Pennington Prep) and
Candace Vigo (New Brunswick, NJ/New Brunswick Health Science Technology) also contributed with seven points apiece.
TCNJ remains on the road this weekend returning to New Jersey Athletic Conference play heading to Montclair State University for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday, January 22.
