Hackettstown, NJ... The College of New Jersey women's basketball team started the new year off with a victory as the Lions used a big second half to cruise past host Centenary College, 68-33 on Monday in Hackettstown.
With the win, TCNJ climbed above the .500 mark as they are now 6-5, while the Cyclones dropped to 4-6.
The Lions held a modest 28-15 lead at the half, but outscored their hosts 40-18 in the final 20 minutes for the convincing win.
Jessica Imhof (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) and
Stephanie Prall (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) paced the Lions with 12 points each, while Prall also pulled down season-high seven rebounds. Senior
Keri Washington (Ewing, NJ/Pennington Prep) chipped in with nine points and both
Alex Gregorek (Mahwah, NJ/Academy of Holy Angels) and
Hannah Tait (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy) each had eight points and seven rebounds.
TCNJ returns home for a pair of New Jersey Athletic Conference games this week starting with a Wednesday match-up with Rutgers University – Camden at 6 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. start on Saturday against New Jersey City University.
