Aston, PA…The College of New Jersey tuned up for its biggest game of the season with a dominant performance at Neumann University on Thursday as the Lions topped the Knights, 4-0.
The win was the eighth straight for sixth-ranked Lions as they now prepare to host top-ranked and undefeated Salisbury University on Sunday, October 9. Game time against the Sea Gulls is set for 1 p.m. in Lions' Stadium.
The loss dropped Neumann to 2-10.
Junior
Caitlyn Jenkins (Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway) got the Lions off and running in the first half as she put the visitors in front only 35 seconds into the game. A shade over eight minutes later that lead grew as
Camille Passucci (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) scored off of a feed from
Christy Wham (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) on a penalty corner.
Wham closed out the scoring in the half with back-to-back goals coming 2:24 apart. The first of those was unassisted and the second with a helper provided by
Lauren Pigott (Jobstown, NJ/Northern Burlington).
The teams then waded through a scoreless second half leaving the final margin at four.
TCNJ dominated on the scoreboard and from a statistical standpoint taking 28 of 30 shots an 20 of 21 penalty corners.
Lion goalies
Shannon Syciarz (Garwood, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) and
Amanda Krause (Richboro, PA/Council Rock North) combined on the shutout, with Krause finishing with two saves.
Neumann goalie Lindsey Kasecamp had a big game registering 15 saves.
