Ewing, NJ…Top-ranked Salisbury University brought an end to The College of New Jersey field hockey team's eight-game winning streak as the Sea Gulls posted a 3-0 win over the Lions on Sunday.
The win keeps Salisbury undefeated at 12-0, while the sixth-ranked Lions dipped to 10-2.
Salisbury opened the scoring 9:30 into the game as Courtney Webster (Chance, MD/Washington) scored off of a penalty corner, while Alison Bloodsworth (Delmar, MD/Delmar) made it 2-0, scoring with 13 seconds left in the half.
The Sea Gulls picked up a third goal early in the second half as Webster netted her second of the game with that goal coming off of a penalty corner as well.
TCNJ's best scoring chance came in the second half when they were awarded a penalty corner.
Camille Passucci (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) started the play by inserting the ball to
Erin Waller (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.), who in turn sent a short pass to an open
Leigh Mitchell (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape). Mitchell, however, wasn't able to get a shot off a clean shot.

Shannon Syciarz (Garwood, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) finished with four saves, including one on a partial breakaway late in the game.
