Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey men's swimming and diving team won its third straight meet to open the season as they coasted past Southern Connecticut State University 160-98.
Sophomore
Stephen Tarnowski (Ramstein Germany, Ramstein American) continued his torrid start to the season winning three individual events at TCNJs Aquatic Center. He won the 200-yard butterfly, 200-yard backstroke, and 200-yard individual medley to lead the Lions (3-0, 2-0 NJAC) to their first non-conference win. He posted times of 2:00.71 in the fly, 1:58.10 in the back, and 1:58.13 in the IM.
Junior
Adam Schneider (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) won the 50-free and the 100-fly against the Colonials. He posted a time of 20.87 in the free (an NCAA provisional qualifying time) and 52.85 in the fly. Schneider was also part of the 200-yard medley winning relay team along with freshman
Aleksander Burzynksi (Colonia, NJ/St. Joseph's), sophomore Michael Olvia (Vineland, NJ/Vineland), and senior
Ryan Clark (Ocean City, NJ/St. Augustine). They posted a finishing time of 1:34.93.
Clark also won the 200-free, touching the wall in 1:44.48. He teamed up with Schneider, sophomore
Phil Hawley (Easthampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) and senior
Jesse Taylor (Closter, NJ/Northern Valley) in the 400-free relay to win that event in 3:10.44.
In total, the Lions won nine individual events and both relay races.
TCNJ is back in action for the third straight day as they host Franklin and Marshall College tomorrow in Packer Hall at 2 p.m.
