Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey women's basketball team dropped a 66-60 decision to Moravian College in Packer Hall of Thursday night.
The Lions (5-4) overcame a nine-point deficit late in the second half, but the Greyhounds (4-4) came to life in the final four minutes of play to claim their fourth win of the year. TCNJ played with great energy in the second half, but a season-high 25 turnovers proved costly to the game's outcome.
Freshman
Kelly Coughlin (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) led TCNJ with 15 points on five-of-eight shooting. Sophomore
Liz West (Monmouth Beach, NJ/Shore Regional) registered 12 points and nine rebounds, while senior
Katie Occhipinti (Millington, NJ/The Pingry School) added seven points and a game-high five assists.

Alexandra Blair (Hellertown, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) led all scorers with 18 points, seven rebounds, and three steals for Moravian. Sophomore
Katie O'Rourke (Palmyra, NJ/Palmyra) tallied 17 points and junior
Amanda Kreuder (IByram, NJ/Morris Catholic) scored 11 points and six rebounds.
Moravian jumped out to a 26-14 lead as O'Rourke knocked down four of her first seven shots to set the pace for the Greyounds. The Lions were held scoreless for more than five minutes through the period before Coughlin drained a baseline jumper with 7:03 to play in the half.
That sparked a 14-4 run for TCNJ. Occhipinti engineered the offense dropping in three-of-four shots and dishing out three assists. She hit a 12-foot jumper to draw the Lions within five before feeding senior
Hannah Tait (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy) behind the arc to make it a 30-28 game at the 3:10 mark.
Moravian held their own in the final moments of the period and went to the locker room with a 34-30 advantage.
The Lions opened the second half with increased intensity, making difficult on Moravian shooters to get good looks on offense. But Blair was tough to contain as she converted several off-balance shots.
With 7:45 to play, TCNJ erased a nine-point deficit in just over two minutes and took their first lead since the 17:36 mark of the first half. Tait drained a three-point shot followed by a 10-foot jumper by freshman
Kylie O'Donnell (Magnolia, NJ/Sterling). Senior
Jessica Imhof (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) then drained a trey before West knocked down a pair of foul shots to give TCNJ a 53-52 lead with 5:33 to play.
But Moravian answered back with a 9-0 run of their own, holding the Lions scoreless for four minutes. Blair hit two clutch shots and the Greyhounds hit 10-of-12 fouls shots down the stretch to seal the road victory.
Imhof finished with eight points, five boards, and three assists. Tait chipped in with six points and six rebounds.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, December 10 when they host Stevens Institute of Technology at 1 p.m. Moravian hosts Albright College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
