Ewing, NJ...The junior tandem of Kathleen Notos (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) and Leigh Mitchell (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) combined for six goals and 10 points as The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team recorded its biggest win of the young season beating SUNY Cortland 12-5 on Sunday.

The third-ranked Lions are now 3-0 on the season, while the seventh-ranked Red Dragons suffered their first setback of the season falling to 2-1.

Cortland opened the scoring before Notos scored her first of the game followed by a goal from teammate Alex Spark (Harvey Cedars, NJ/Southern Regional) made it 2-1.

The Red Dragons tied the game with 21:41 left in the half as Jordan Miller (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) netted that equalizer.

The Lions then got a boost from their juniors as Mitchell assisted on consecutive goals by Notos as the hosts moved in front 4-2.

Cortland scored its third and final goal of the half with 5:17 left before the break to make it a one-goal game, but TCNJ's Ali Jaeger (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) deposited her own rebound into the Red Dragon net to get the goal right back.

TCNJ added one more goal in the final minute as that familiar combination of Mitchell to Notos gave the hosts a 6-3 advantage at the break.

Jaeger jumped started the Lions in the second half scoring back-to-back goals in the opening five minutes extending the lead to 8-3.

Cortland got one of them back to make it 8-4, but that would be as close as they would get the rest of the way Mitchell netted consecutive goals adding to the cushion.

With that lead, TCNJ goalie Mary Waller (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) and the rest of the defense did their part. Waller finished with a season-high seven saves, while as a team the Lions held Cortland 11 goals below their season average.

Mitchell finished with six points scoring twice and passing out six assists and Notos found the back of the net four times. Jaeger chipped in with three goals and an assist and Spark tallied a pair.

TCNJ continues its three-game home stand on Thursday hosting Cabrini College in a 7:30 p.m. start in Lions' Stadium.
