Ewing, NJ...The College of New Jersey men's tennis team recorded wins in the final two matches to rally for a 5-4 victory over New York University on Friday.

The win keeps the Lions undefeated on the season at 4-0, while the Violets fell to 1-4.

TCNJ trailed 4-3 heading into the fifth and sixth singles matches, but sophomore TJ Riley (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Moorestown) pulled the hosts even with a 6-0, 6-2 win in the fifth position and junior Dan Lee (Abington, PA/Abington) completed the comeback with a victory in the sixth slot. His win wasn't easy as he dropped the opening set 7-6 with a 7-3 tiebreaker, but stormed back to capture the next two sets 6-0 and 6-2.

Junior Steven Fernandez (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) also won in singles for TCNJ by the scores of 7-5, 6-4 in the second position.

The Lions added two victories in doubles play as Dean Thompson (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) and Jonathan Yu (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) came out on top in the second position and Stewart Fernandez (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) and Howard Telson (Edison, NJ/ J. P. Stevens) were triumphant at third doubles. Both teams won by identical 8-6 scores.

TCNJ has a quick turnaround as they host Hobart College on Saturday in a 10 a.m. start in the Student Recreation Center.
