Doubles teams sweep in 7-2 win over Hobart

Howard Telson was a double winner for TCNJ.
Ewing, NJ...A clean sweep in all three doubles matches catapulted The College of New Jersey men's tennis team to a 7-2 victory over Hobart College at the Student Recreation Center on Saturday.

The win keeps the Lions undefeated on the season at a perfect 5-0.

The first doubles team of Jeremy Eckardt (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) and TJ Riley (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Moorestown) posted an 8-6 victory, while the second tandem of Dean Thompson (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) and Jonathan Yu (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) won by that same score. The third pairing of and Stewart Fernandez (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) and Howard Telson (Edison, NJ/ J. P. Stevens) completed the sweep with a 9-7 win.

The carried that strong play into the singles portion of the match as Eckardt won at first singles, Yu in the third spot, Dan Lee (Abington, PA/Abington) in fifth, and Howard Telson (Edison, NJ/J. P. Stevens) in the sixth position.

The Lions return to the court on Thursday, March 31 heading to Haverford College for a 4 p.m. match.
