Ewing, NJ...The College of New Jersey showed no signs of slowing down at either end of the field as the Lions' women's lacrosse team improved to 8-0 on the season with a solid 11-2 win over Drew University on Saturday.

The third-ranked Lions lead the country in team defense and lived up to that billing allowing only two goals, while the offense reached double figures for the eighth time. By yielding those two goals, TCNJ dropped its goals-against-average to 2.12 per game.

The loss knocked the Rangers to 3-5 on the year.

Junior Kathleen Notos (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) got the hosts rolling early with back-to-back goals with the first coming on an assist from senior Ali Jaeger (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) and the latter from Leigh Mitchell (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape). That assist by Mitchell was the 100th of her career as she is the only player in program history to reach that milestone.

TCNJ's offense continued to share the wealth in the opening frame as sophomore Alex Spark (Harvey Cedars, NJ/Southern Regional) and freshman Jen Garavente (Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp.) each scored twice, while Jaeger, Mitchell, Notos each scored once for a commanding 9-0 lead at the break.

The pace slowed in the second half as each team scored twice in the final 30 minutes with Spark and Notos accounting for TCNJ's goals.

Senior goalie Mary Waller (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) picked up four saves as she earned up her 40th career win between the pipes for the Lions.

Notos led all players with four goals, while Spark also had four points on three goals and an assist. Mitchell and Jaeger each added a goal and two assists for TCNJ.

The Lions return to the road on Tuesday, March 29 for a 4 p.m. start at Eastern University.
